“Echo of Captive Hands” is the first photograph of the series Details Revealed available in my shop as a limited edition art print. This shot tells the silent and intense past of an ancient door of a cell of the Forte di Gavi, where during the Second World War officers were detained. The signs engraved on the wooden surface, probably traced by the prisoners, are fragments of stories suspended in time, testimonies of waiting, hope and memory.
These engravings, scratched on a surface worn by time, evoke mysterious symbols, almost as if they were coded messages. Each engraved sign is a silent voice that whispers forgotten stories. The texture of the wood, marked by the years, carries with it the weight of countless lives, creating a contrast between the solidity of the material and human fragility.
The choice of black and white enhances the details of the surface, bringing out not only the depth of the texture, but also the intensity of the engravings, as if the photography were able to capture the echo of that past time. In this shot, time seems suspended, imprisoned in a plot of lines and symbols that defy oblivion.
