Fly me to the moon

Mixed media on canvas, 100 × 100 cm, 2022
Co-created with Paolo Amoretti
Fly Me to the Moon is a work of co-creation, where the painterly languages of Ilaria Berenice and Paolo Amoretti converge into a shared visual field.
At the center, an abstract face drawn in ink by Ilaria Berenice emerges as a silent and suspended presence — a nucleus around which the composition unfolds. Encircling this core, the pictorial space expands through a dynamic, circular movement, activated by the intense use of primary colors — red, yellow, and blue — characteristic of Paolo Amoretti’s abstract research.
Rather than a superimposition of gestures, the work develops through dialogue: marks, colors, and rhythms respond to one another, creating a space where the face becomes a threshold rather than a portrait.
The title suggests an upward and inward movement at once — a trajectory that is both intimate and expansive. The figure appears held within a field of transformation, where identity is not fixed, but continuously emerging through relation.
The work embodies a layered presence, where abstraction and figuration coexist, and where the encounter between two artistic sensibilities becomes the very substance of the image.
