The painting portrays a Bahian woman, whose face expresses serenity and dignity, adorned with jewelry that I created with collages of stones and beads, and a white dress that I created with a collage of fabrics. I therefore created this work with a fusion of materials, combining acrylic paint for the background, pastels for the details of the face and a collage of fabrics, stones, beads and small objects to create a unique and rich texture that brings the woman’s clothing and accessories to life.
The background recalls the liveliness of parties and life in general in Brazil.
These elements, together with the bright color palette, celebrate the richness and variety of its cultural heritage. The combination of these techniques and materials gives the portrait a three-dimensional and tactile quality, which invites the viewer to explore not only the personality of the woman portrayed, but also the history and culture from which she comes.
