Purple Dog is an abstract portrait of a dog, characterized by an expressive application of colors and techniques. For the composition I mainly used liquid enamels, which give dynamism and a certain visual fluidity. The dominant tones of the painting are black and purple, with accents of blue and pink that intertwine creating an almost chaotic but fascinating effect.
The dog’s face is in the center, with the eyes depicted in vivid blue. These eyes are executed with greater detail than the rest, to suggest an emotional window into the animal’s soul. Around the eyes, the colors blend more indistinctly, with quick strokes that simulate the dog’s fur.
For the technique I used large, rapid brush strokes that overlap and mix, creating a rich and complex texture. The splashes of color not only define the shape of the subject but also add a sense of movement and vitality, making the painting pulsating and energetic.
The use of abstraction allows me a more emotional and less literal representation of the subject, inviting observers to personally interpret what they see, guided by the emotions that the colors and shapes evoke.
This work is exhibited at the Capriccio Art Hotel of Serravalle Scrivia, AL.
