I made this face with acrylic paints on canvas. I chose to use a palette knife instead of a brush to create the face, which allowed me to achieve a stronger and more visible effect on the painting. The use of the palette knife makes each gesture more evident, allows me to emphasize the gestural dimension and give more importance to the sign.
I made the background black, to intensify the contrast with the vivid color palette used for the face and create a depth effect on the painting. Facial forms are sharply delineated, with particular attention to the structuring of the eyes, which appear piercing, and the lips, marked by a vivid red that stands out against the black background.
The result is a work where the play of colors and the technique employed offer a representation that is as much a portrait as it is an emotional and chromatic landscape.
This work is exhibited at the Capriccio Art Hotel of Serravalle Scrivia, AL.
