This painting is a symphony of layers and textures that intertwine in a kaleidoscopic manifestation of color and form. It is the result of a distinctive method I use in the Decollage and Painting series, which celebrates a kind of visual alchemy. This process is a sequence of construction, destruction, and reconstruction in a narrative of creative metamorphosis.
Made on a panel, the foundation of the work is composed of a collage of layers of paper, such as magazine pages and more. The use of palette knife and sandpaper allowed me to reveal hidden parts of these layers, with a decollage that reveals the story beneath the surface. This process of removal is as much a part of the work as the addition of material, offering a dimension of both literal and metaphorical depth.
As processing continues, I intervened with graphic marks and painting to enhance and define the forms that emerged during this process. This resulted in a labyrinth of lines and figures, where the elements of collage, decollage and painting converge in a visual dialogue.
I consider the creative process a fundamental aspect of the work itself, letting forms and textures emerge organically and spontaneously. This work, then, becomes an ode to the beauty of imperfection and the nobility of change, emphasizing how the constant flow of creation, destruction and reconstruction is a source of beauty and inspiration. In the context of this painting, every mark and nuance is a tribute to nature’s and humanity’s ability to adapt and transform, a visual celebration of the eternal cycle of renewal.
This work is exhibited at the Capriccio Art Hotel in Serravalle Scrivia, AL.
