The painting depicts a Bahian woman, whose face expresses serenity and dignity, adorned with jewelry I created with collage of stones and beads, and a white dress I created with fabric collage. I then created this work with a fusion of materials, combining acrylic paint for the backdrop, pastels for the details of the face and a collage of fabrics, stones, beads and small objects to create a unique and rich texture that brings the woman’s clothing and accessories to life.
The background recalls the vibrancy of festivals and life in general in Brazil.
These elements, along with the bright color palette, celebrate the richness and variety of its cultural heritage. The combination of these techniques and materials gives the portrait a three-dimensional, tactile quality that invites the viewer to explore not only the personality of the woman portrayed, but also the history and culture from which she came.
This work is exhibited at Capriccio Art Hotel in Serravalle Scrivia, AL.
