The painting Village on the Hill invites the viewer into a structured world where the traditional boundaries between collage, decollane and painting blur into a symphony of color and form. The work is part of the Decollage and Painting series, where I begin with a thick collage of various types of paper. Then I apply a decollage technique, removing parts to reveal the underlying layers, then move on to painting, enhancing the shapes that emerged during the creative process and enhancing the composition with expressive brush strokes.
As the creative process unfolds without premeditated planning, the work blossoms into an abstract representation of a village perched on a flowery hillside. This multilayered piece defies rational programming, instead growing organically as each step of the creative journey informs the next. The result is a vibrant, abstract landscape that emerges and recedes in a riot of flourishes, channeling the flow of artistic creation into a dynamic visual narrative.
This work is exhibited at Capriccio Art Hotel in Serravalle Scrivia, AL.
